THE FOOD

First of all, I miss you too Jen!!!

And In response to Blake, to food is delicious. I would say the biggest difference between Chinese Chinese food and American Chinese food is the variation in flavors. In America, everything has that classic Chinese taste. You know, like drenched in soy/teriyaki sauce. Here there is so much variety. For example, last night for dinner my host father made: a dish with scrambled egg, tomato, and a lightly sweet sauce; a dish with sliced cabbage, cucumber, walnuts, and a clear spicy sauce; a sweet dessert like soup with god-only-knows-what in it, and some thin almost pita like bread. Dinner was yum.

Grandma, woot is a 21st century version of yay :)

I'll put pics up soon,

Hey Cutie!

I got a letter in the mail today from SYA saying they really wanted us to only correspond once a week so you weren't distracted by all our thoughts/news/etc. So I'll try to give it a little rest and want to reiterate that your studies, school, and family life there come first. I sure don't want your family to think you have to be on line every day : ) Mitch & I have come down with rotten little colds : (

Grandpa's angiogram went very well today and he is scheduled to have his mitral valve replaced on 9-17-08. It is a very long surgery (at least 4 hours) and he will be in the hospital for about 5 days after the day of surgery. Mitch & I will plan to go up to MN after work on 9-19 to keep them company and be together on my birthday!

That's the news on the home front!

I hope you learn some of their cooking secrets so you can share them with us. When you go grocery shopping with them, maybe you'll learn what some of those spices are! It certainly sounds delicious!

Maybe some of those characters are for yummy foods : )

Hm,

Just because Moms have to correspond once a week, does that mean former teachers do too? I don't like that.

I want you distracted by ALL my little thoughts/news/etc.

Tee hee,
Miss Stewart
