BLAAAA

MING IF YOU LEAVE FOR BJ ON THE FOURTEENTH THAT MEANS I ONLY HAVE ONE DAY TO SEE YOU. so not cool.

p.s. the pictures are of some pandas and me at a Giant Panda research base north of Chengdu, in Sichuan province. Our spring trip was to Guizhou and Sichuan provinces. I was in Chengdu on my birthday at a Chinese cooking school learning how to make some delicious Sichuan food!

Great photos, El! I'd love to hear your speech about Pandas when you come home. Will you be presenting your Panda speech in the contest? Spring is coming slow but sure in MN. Come have a cup of tea on our deck when you get home. When does your job start in Des Moines this summer? You should have your travels recorded in a book like Roger Ratcliff's granddaughter did after spending 2 years working in one of the Asian countries for 2 years. She taught English. See you soon. Bear Hugs...or should I say Panda Bear Hugs? X O Grammar

I'm looking forward to eating some of that yummy Sichuan cooking and hope we can find at least some of the spices over here - maybe in Chicago's Chinatown if not at Penzey's here locally!

Did you get any photos while in the cooking school? What great fun to be cooking and eating delicious treats on your birthday! We may have to change some of our eating habits upon your return - however, rumor has it that the Drake Diner is still on your list of places you'd like to frequent once you're back : )

Well, you're coming down to the wire as they say in racing circles. You've had an incredible year to add to your memory bank so pretty soon it will be time to go on to the next adventure. I hear you may apply to G.W. in D.C. As you know, I love that city. I was in the drama club in high school and we always got invited to dress rehearsal nights for the college plays. Fun! Grandpa and I are on a movie kick...saw "The Soloist" yesterday (excellent acting, gorgeous music) and today we're going to see Michael Caine's new movie "Anyone Out There"...I think that's the title. We'll have supper with Michelle, Alton and Blake this evening. Happy Day to you...Grammar

Those pandas are amazing! I'm glad I got to see them at the Beijing Zoo and that I have my umbrella to commemorate that visit. I'm ticked that you got to go to a research center of preserve for them. I'm curious about your speech on pandas too!
